For a beach ceremony, we’ll think through the route from the car, the sand underfoot, your shoes, and where everyone can comfortably gather. A short distance on a map can feel different when you’re carrying flowers, wearing wedding clothes, or helping a guest down a path.

What a coastal viewpoint offers

A viewpoint might appeal to you if the big ocean landscape is what first drew you to Brookings. The planning questions are different here: How much standing space is available? Can visitors still pass? Does the approach work for everyone joining you?

The Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor stretches along Highway 101 between Brookings and Gold Beach. Oregon State Parks describes a mix of beaches, trailheads, and overlooks. Whaleshead Beach has a relatively easy, flat approach, while Arch Rock offers a short path from the parking area to an overlook. Choose your ceremony location first

You can want one setting for your vows and another for portraits. The key is giving each part enough time.

For example, your day could begin with getting ready, continue with a ceremony at an approved coastal location, and leave a separate stretch for portraits before dinner. I’d build in the actual walk, parking, travel, and time for you to take a breath. Those parts belong in the timeline, too.

Check permission before committing to a spot

Oregon State Parks directs couples to contact the park or nearest park office about their wedding plans, including possible permits, fees, and insurance.
