Your wedding day goes by fast — and your timeline plays a huge role in how that experience feels, not just how it looks.
While it’s important to plan your day around the moments that matter most to you, it’s equally important to allow space for those moments to actually happen. The best photos — the ones that feel real, emotional, and timeless — aren’t rushed or forced. They unfold naturally.
When your timeline is too tight, it can create unnecessary stress and take away from your ability to be fully present. Art isn’t something that can be rushed, especially when it comes to capturing one of the most meaningful days of your life. Giving your photographer the time and flexibility they need allows them to document your day in a way that feels authentic, intentional, and true to you.
Lighting is everything.
If you’re dreaming of those soft, glowing, golden-toned images — timing your day around sunset is key. This is what photographers call golden hour, and it’s when the light is at its absolute best.
I always recommend setting aside intentional time during sunset for bride and groom portraits. This is typically one of the only moments during the day where you can step away, slow down, and be together — just the two of you — while we create some of the most breathtaking images of your entire wedding.
Trust me… this is a moment you don’t want to miss.
One of the best things you can do for yourself (and your photos) is to allow your photographer to help guide your timeline.
I work closely with all of my couples to build a timeline that:
Flows naturally
Maximizes the best lighting throughout the day
Allows time for real moments (not rushed ones)
Keeps things feeling relaxed and enjoyable
There are so many little factors that go into a well-built timeline — lighting, travel time, buffer space, family dynamics, and more — and having someone experienced help map that out makes all the difference.
- Build in buffer time (things almost always take longer than expected)
- Don’t overpack your day — less rushing = better experience
- Prioritize what matters most to you
- Plan your ceremony time with lighting in mind
- Always leave space for sunset portraits

2-Hour Wedding Day Timeline
Venue: orchard Home
Sunset: 7:30 PM
This timeline is designed to capture the most important moments of your day in a short, efficient window, while still allowing space for genuine, meaningful moments to unfold.
👉 Tip: Having a pre-planned list keeps this quick, smooth, and stress-free
This is your dedicated time together ✨
Even with a shorter timeline, this portion of the day is intentionally set aside so you can:
While this timeframe is earlier than sunset (7:30), we will still focus on finding the best available light and locations to create beautiful, flattering images.
👉 If golden hour photos are a priority, we can always adjust the timeline slightly or step out briefly later in the evening.
Your wedding day is made up of so many little pieces — and those details tell the full story of your day.
From your dress and rings to your invitations, perfume, florals, and even the smallest personal touches — these are the elements that help bring your entire wedding together. They may seem small in the moment, but they play a huge role in how your story is documented.
Detail photos are what set the tone. They capture the feeling, the style, and the intention behind your day before anything even begins.
These are some of the most important items to have ready for your photographer:
Dress + veil
Rings (all of them!)
Invitation suite + envelopes
Shoes
Jewelry
Perfume
Vow books
Florals (bouquet + loose pieces if available)
Any meaningful or personal items
👉 Think of anything that helps tell your story — we want to capture it.
One of the best things you can do is have all your details gathered ahead of time in a box or bag.
This allows me to:
Details aren’t just about the items — they’re about how they’re styled.
I use natural light, textures, and intentional composition to create images that feel:
The more intentional your details are, the more elevated your photos will feel.
At the end of the day, your details are part of your legacy.
They represent the thought, love, and intention you put into your wedding — and they deserve to be captured just as beautifully as the big moments.
